BOY’S DEATH

ACCIDENTAL EXPLOSION. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 8 The accidental explosion of a can of methylated spirits used in priming a blow lamp was responsible for the death of William Henry Bryant, an employee in the Wellington City Corporation’s electricity department, according to the verdict given by the Coroner, Mr E. Gilbertson, at the inquest held to-day. Alexander Fraser, acting firemen in the winding branch of the Electricity Department, said l.e instructed Bryant to light'a blow lamp. A few minutes later he heard an explosion and saw the boy lying on the floor enveloped in flames.

James Richard Houston, another employee, said he saw the explosion, but could not be sure if the lamp had been previously lit or not. He had heard Fraser warn the boy about the use of methylated spirits.
