STRIKE BALLOT
BRITISH MINE WORKERS. ADHERENCE TO DECISION. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, November 6. The Mine Workers’ Federation declined to reconsider its decision to take a strike ballot next week. This was announced after the federation had examined a communication made by the Secretary for Mines to the effect that as the result of an undertaking given by the colliery owners—that selling organizations would be set up in every district before next July—uneconomic competition in the home market would be eliminated, thus permitting higher wages being paid.
