OTARA NOTES
THE WEATHER. (From Our Correspondent.) After an exceptionally long spell of dry weather over the last three months with a rainfall of only 1.74 inches, weather conditions for October were of a damper nature, though quite a good month, pastures benefiting materially with warn* rains. The loss among lambs this season has not been so general and some very good percentages are reported. All farm work is well advanced and the sowing of oat crops finished while a large acreage of permanent pastures has been sown out this season. The rainfall for October was 3.79 inches with rain over 11 days, the heaviest fall being 1.04 on the 9th and .60 on the 29th. With the heavy fall for October, the 10 months total to date exceeds 1934 by 1.5 inches and only requires 1.77 to equal the fall for 1934 with still two months left. Already over one inch has falleh for November. Dairying. The supply being received at the local factory is now 2250 gallons daily, being 500 gallons a day lower than the same period last season. Several of the herds are averaging over four gallons a cow.
