CITY POLICE COURT
BY-LAW OFFENCES.
A list of cases consisting of by-law offences was dealt with by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the City Police Court yesterday. John William Popham, who voluntarily appeared, for riding a bicycle without a light was fined 5/-. Proceeded against by the city traffic inspector (Mr E. Stopford), for riding a bicycle after dark without a light, Arthur Anderson, who explained that the occurrence took place not long after dark, was convicted and discharged. Eric Willis Frew, who pleaded guilty to operating an over-loaded lorry, was fined £1 and court costs 10/-. William Lemon, charged with standing a lorry the wrong way round in Esk street, was convicted and fined 10/- and costs 12/-. George L. Scott (Tuatapere), for speeding over an intersection, wasffined £1 and costs 10/-. Clarence L. Stroud, on a charge of negligently driving a motor-van, was fined £1 10/- and costs 13/-.
Cyril Ward (Longwood), charged with operating a motor lorry over two tons in weight in Tay street without a heavy traffic license, was fined £1 and costs 12/-.
