OLD MAN’S DEATH
BODY FOUND IN WATER-HOLE.
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST.
An inquest into the death of John Kilcoyne,. aged 72, an inmate of the Lome Farm Institution, was held before the Coroner, Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., yesterday morning. Evidence of identification was given by Matron C. M. Fitzgibbon, of the infirmary, who also indicated his general state of health. She said that Kilcoyne disappeared on October 24 and that later information that he was at Lochiei proved to be incorrect. Arnold Stanley George, a Makarewa farmer, said that last Sunday he found the body of a man face down in a water-hole three feet deep. After he had informed the police the body was removed to the morgue by Constable Mcßae. The body, which was found to be that of Kilcoyne, bore no marks of violence and appeared to have been in the water for several days. The Coroner returned a verdict that Kilcoyne was drowned on or about October 24, but that there was no evidence to show how he came to be in the water.
