INN HELD UP
NEW YORK GUNMEN. 3000 DOLLARS STOLEN. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.5 5a.m.) New York. August 13. Bringing to a climax a series of robberies, assaults and murders committed recently in parks in Manhattan, in the centre of the city, two gunmen held up Claremont Inn, situated in the heart of the Riverside Drive, and escaped with 3000 dollars. The inn dining-room was full of teatime guests, but the robbers did not disturb them. After having drinks they brandished pistols and took the payroll from the cashier, compelling him and three others to take off their clothes. The robbers then calmly walked out and rode off in an automobile and escaped before the alarm could be given.
