FINAL SERVICE

PRESBYTERY JUBILEE. 800 CHILDREN ATTEND. The final service in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Presbytery of Southland was held yesterday afternoon in First Church, when over 800 Sunday school children, representing the Sunday schools of First Church, Sylvan Bank, St. Paul’s, Gladstone, St. Stephen’s (Waikiwi), North, Knox, Georgetown and St. Andrew’s combined. The service was conducted by the Rev. C. J. Tocker, who gave an appropriate address. As the children retired from the church each child was presented with a beautifully-printed bookmark as a souvenir of thd jubilee. The various schools with their superintendents and teachers completely filling the extensive interior of First Church presented an impressive sight and one which will live long in the memory of those who took part.
