FRENCH NAVY

NORTHERN SQUADRON STRENGTH DOUBLED SUPPORT FROM THE AIR (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) London, August 10. The Daily Telegraph’s naval correspondent says that France’s serious view of the German naval comeback is indicated by the steady-reinforcement of her northern or channel squadron, the strength of which has been doubled in the last nine months. The ships are to be supported by a great air fleet operating between Brest and the Channel ports. At the present rate of development, the French northern squadron will soon be superior to the British home fleet in all types excepting capital ships.
