BARRIER REEF
ROMANTIC LIFE PLANNED. BARONESS AND HUSBAND. London, July 26. It is reported that Mr Hugo Brassey, who formerly was engaged to Miss Lily Damita, will marry the young German flying debutante, Baroness von Bodenhausen, a kinswoman of Queen Mary, at a registry office tomorrow. They will spend their honeymoon in Australia. Afterwards the couple will live on Dunk Island, on the Barrier Reef, Mr Brassey having secured the freehold of the island. In an interview the baroness said: — “What a thrill it will be living in a hut on an island in mid-ocean. I have just become a pilot, and I hope to have much flying in Australia.” The baroness was presented at Court in March. She came to England in 1927 after school, which explains the excellence of her English. “My greatest ambition was to marry an Englishman,’ she added. The couple will travel to Sydney by the Monterey. Mr Brassey says he intends to spend six months each year on Dunk Island, which he will use as a centre for biggame fishing and crocodile, duck and goose shooting. He intends turning the house at present on Dunk Island into a restaurant, and building several Mexican huts, which visitors will use for rest or fishing.
