DARING BURGLARY
WELLINGTON SHOP. ARREST MADE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, July 22. One of the largest and most daring burglaries committed in Wellington for many years, the entering of the Anchor Exchange and Loan Company’s shop in Manners street on May 22, and the theft of money and jewellery, has been the subject of extensive and persistent inquiries by detectives, and to-day a man appeared in the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court charged with the theft of jewellery valued at £5OO, and £B4 in money. He was Alfred Jeffrey and was remanded to appear at Wellington on Wednesday. A large quantity of the jewellery has been recovered.
