' THE ATHENAEUM. (From Our Correspondent.) The athenaeum committee has received another large consignment of new books, and these have been placed on the shelves. Wallace Hospital.

At the monthly meeting of the Wallace Hospital Board on Thursday the secretary (Mr G. O. Cassels) announced that the board’s estimates for the year 1935-36 had been approved in full by the Department of Health without comment. Members considered this statement very satisfactory, the chairman remarking that their’ secretary was to be complimented on the able manner in which he had prepared the yearly statement.

It was also stated that Dr. Watt, Director-General of Health had paid his annual visit of inspection to the institution, and in expressing his entire satisfaction with the general management of the Wallace Hospital complimented the chairman on the hospital board's enterprise and progress in connection with its engineering scheme for the central heating installation throughout the whole hospital.
