COMMENTS. When you write your next story, read it over carefully, and if you are not quite sure that it is as neat as possible, re-write it. A neat entry is much more likely to win a prize than an untidy one. The three prize winners and Ronald Deal and Albert Moore wrote well. I would like these cousins to try introducing original figures of speech, or word pictures, into their stories. They could have done this in describing the cat, the mouse or perhaps the cheese. Make use of your sense of humour. I think Cousin Albert Moore could make his entries a little longer. Cousins Peter and Ray Rees should watch their writing, and I hope they will continue entering for competitions—their stories show promise. Don't forget to write your address on your entry, Cousins Catherine Cowie and Lindsay McMillan. These two new cousins have made a good beginning. 345th COMPETITION. Poem for Cousins 12 and over: ‘‘The Black Rabbit.” ■ Prizes of 1/- to Cousins Chrissie Ross (16), 34 Lockend street, Tainui, Dunedin, Patricia Summers (15), Orepuki, Ruth Heath (13), Lilburn, Tuatapere.
