INQUEST HELD
TRAGEDY AT PARAKAO. UNUSUAL COURSE TAKEN.
(Per United Press Association.) i Whangarei, June 11. The inquest on the victims of the Parakao tragedy was productive of the adoption of an unusual course m the taking of the evidence. Jack Nau Hinia, who admitted familiarity with the dead woman, refused to enter the whare where the bodies day, and where the inquest was being held. Detective Nalder therefore took his depositions in the adjoining cook-house. The coroner moved from where he was sitting inside the whare to the entrance, with an ear _ to the evidence being given by two witnesses, one inside the whare and one in the cookhouse. The hour was growing late, and in order that the difficult track to the road should be negotiated in daylight, it was necessary to hasten the proceedings. The inquest has oeen adjourned sine die.
