RED CROSS SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Invercargill Red Cross Society was held on Tuesday, there being present: Mrs W. P. Smith (president in the chair), Mesdames J. G. Petrie, R. Henderson, F. Bartlett, and H. Ritchie and Miss M. A. Hunter. The ladies reported having visited the Southland Hospital weekly, there being at present 12 soldier patients. Miss A. E. McNaughton reported having visited the Wallace Hospital, Riverton, weekly, there being at present four soldier patients. Nine applications for underclothing issues were received and dealt with. It was decided to hold the annual meeting towards the end of March, the date to be decided by the chairman. Mrs Petrie, vice-president, applied for leave of absence until the end of the present year for the purpose of paying a holiday visit to the Homeland. Leave of absence was granted, the ladies of the committee wishing her a pleasant voyage and presenting her with a leather knitting bag.
