Mr A. C. Mills, of Otautau, relumed from Dunedin by the mid-day train yesterday.
The Hon. Mr Justice Kennedy arrived in Invercargill by yesterday’s mid-day mail train. The Hon. William Stevenson, M.L.C., was a passenger on the Dunedin mail train yesterday. Mr D. McDougall, M.P., who returned from Wellington on Saturday evening, leaves by this morning’s express to resume his Parliamentary duties. Mr R. N. O’Connor, Inspector of Health, arrived at Gore on Saturday, to commence his new duties as health inspector in place of Mr W. de Roo. Sir William Perry, of Masterton, was re-elected chairman of Massey College Council at last week’s meeting of that body, with Professor T. A. Hunter as vice-chairman.
Mr C. V. Dayus, Superintendent for Otago and Southland of the Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture, arrived in Invercargill by the mid-day mail train yesterday. Dr J. A. Pottinger, who is leaving on a trip to the Old Country, will embark to-morrow at Bluff on the Imperial Star, which proceeds to Port Chalmers before finally departing for London by way of the Panama Canal. The following are guests at the Club Hotel: Mr T. Galbraith (Christchurch), Mr A. Munro (Waikaia), Mr C. Gardner (Clifden), Mr and Mrs R. King (Christchurch), Mr W. Crewes (Wellington), Mr T. Ward (Auckland), Mr W. Develish (New Plymouth) and Mr C. A. Redworth (Nelson). An Auckland message states: At the twenty-sixth annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants the application of Miss Ethel Hackworth, of Invercargill, for transfer from the status of Associate to that of Fellow was granted unanimously. She is the first woman who has ever received a Fellowship of the New Zealand Society.
