GENERAL NOTES. The Tamatea left with passengers and cargo for Stewart Island at 85 am. yester-. day and returned to Bluff shortly after 5 P h’m.S. Leith is expected to arrive at Bluff from Dunedin at 9 a.m. to-day. Excellent weather conditions prevailed for work on the waterfront yesterday and the discharging- of the motor liner Opawa was carried on without interruption. She will probably finish working and sail tonight for New Plymouth. Under charter to the A. and A. Line the steamer Benholm has arrived at Auckland from New York The vessel has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, and Australia. ■ W’ith a large quantity of New Zealand produce, as well as mail and 340 passengers, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor liner Rangitata left Auckland on January 18 for London, via Panama and Kingston. She is scheduled to reach London about F< The a Wai 2 taki left Auckland last Thursday ■for Sydney and Newcastle to load for South Island ports. Afterwards she will complete loading at Sydney and Hobart. She will main tain the Sydney-South Island service In conjunction with the Waikouaiti until further notice. A wireless message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the Rotorua states that the vessel is expected to arrive at Wellington at 7 a.m. to-morrow from London. The Rotorua, -after, landing passengers and mails at Wellington, will sail for Port Chalmers, where she Is due on Thursday to discharge part of her Home cargo. En route from Southampton to Wellington the Tainul left Balboa on January 15. She is due at Wellington to land passengers only on February 4. ~ : The Union Company steamer Waikawa. due at Auckland on January 25, left Apia on January 16. After discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin she. will proceed to ■Melbourne.!and Sydney. The Union Company’s Wairuna, now loading on the Pacific coast for Australian and New Zealand ports via Apia, left Vancouver on January 15 for Ocean Falls, thence to San Francisco and Los Angeles to complete. The Shaw, Savill and Albion motor ship Waiwera and the Federal Line steamer Hertford are reported to have left London for New, Zealand in ballast a week ago.
