The situation on the Italian Dodecanese Islands, particularly Kalymnos, where martial law has been declared, is growing more tense. _ The islanders allege Italian interference with their religion and have closed the churches as a protest, and the priests are refusing to officiate. Italian sailors are patrolling the streets. One priest was detained and another escaped.
