CRICKET DISPUTE
NOTTS COUNTY CLUB.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright). London, January 26. Mr Brown (secretary of the Notts Club) sent a letter to Mr Whitby saying that owing to the imputation against his honour that Dr Gould expressed on the 16th inst., the committee was not prepared to adopt the suggestion made on the 19th inst. of an offer to appoint three committeemen to meet three critics through the medium of Aiderman Huntsman and two independent persons that he was to nominate. The committee confirmed the statements made on the 16th, and was not prepared to reverse any decision therein referred to. Mr Brown’s letter was sent to Mr Whitby and to Mr Woolley, the latter representing the conveners of the club meeting. Messrs Whitby, Woolley, and Adams made a statement as follows: “Our’ sporting gesture has not been accepted in the spirit in which it was offered. However, we will accept the offer if the committee agrees to our nominating one of three independents. We suggest Sir Robert Doncaster.
