ORDINARY MEETING REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. The first three-weekly meeting for 1935 of the Invercargill City Council was held last evening, there being present: His Worship th w Mayor (Mr John Miller) and Councillors T. O’Byrne, J. H. Tattersfield, H. Ritchie, C. B. Tapley, B. W. Hewat, G. J. Reed, C. J. Broarick and J. A. Doig. The clauses of public Interest in the reports of committees as adopted by. the council were as follows:— , Reserves. Hedge Cutting on Corporation Reserves: The committee, having con-: sidered the matter of hedge cutting for sports bodies occupying portions of corporation reserves, recommends that the sports clubs concerned be required to nay half of the cost of hedge cutting respectively. Works. Dog Registration: Recommended that under Section 4 of the Dog Registration Act, 1908. the council appoint the City Inspector’s Office, Allan’s Hall, Kelvin street, Invercargill, as the office for the registration of dogs and that Ralph Bleakley be reappointed registrar. It is also recommended that the registration fee be now fixed at 10/- per dog with the exception that any shepherd, drover or farmer may register dogs not exceeding three in number and kept solely for the purpose of herding or driving sheep or cattle, on payment of a registration fee of 2/6 for every such dog.
Post Office Square Surfacing: Recommend that the City Engineer be authorized to carry on with the second coat,-the Post and Telegraph Department to pay half cost as previously arranged.
