BEAR OF OAKLAND

ARRIVAL AT LITTLE AMERICA.

(United Press Assn— Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 11.5 p.m.) Little America, Jan. 21. The Bear of Oakland arrived yesterday, bringing much welcomed mail to the expedition which is now moored alongside the ice seven miles from the camp, reloading for the return already under way on the 450 miles sail along the front of the Ross ice barrier from Cape Crozier. Captain English has made an extraordinary discovery. The Great Barrier moves half a mile yearly for nearly the whole of its winding length, and is now about 12 miles northward from the position fixed during the Terra Nova survey in 1911. As the Bear of Oakland appeared in sight, a blast of dynamite exploded in welcome.
