DEMAND IN U.S.A. RESULT OF DROUGHT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 19. Owing to the prolonged drought and conditions in the United States and southern Canada resulting in the slaughter of a great number of cattle and also the removal by winds of soil from a large area of farm lands there is a serious shortage of supplies and Nev/ Zealand butter has been purchased by New York from London to relieve the position. The New Zealand Department of Industries and Commerce also took action and 10,000 cwt of butter is now on its way from New Zealand to New York.
