McEnery, counsel for the prosecution in a number ot cases against members of the Republican army before the military tribunal, was held up in a dark road by two men with revolvers. Two . others appeared and bundled him into a taxi which travelled full speed to Dublin. His assailants declared that Mr McEnery’s conduct in the cases was improper. He protested that he was only doing his duty, and they replied that they were acting on orders. They tied a copy of the cases in which Mr McEnery is appearing round his body. The taxi pulled up outside the Arbour Hill barracks, where the tribunal sits. The kidnappers bundled Mr McEnery out, tied his hands and feet to the barracks railings, tarred his head and decamped.
