DISAPPOINTING VISIT
MR COATES’S MISSION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Melbourne, December 8. Regret that the New Zealand Ministerial trade delegation had been unable to achieve the object of its mission was expressed at a function arranged tor the entertainment of the delegates by the New Zealand Association in Melbourne. The chairman (Mr L. L. Beeson) said that Australia missed something worth while when she denied herself New Zealand potatoes. He added that the New Zealand Association was proposing to institute a drive for relief funds for the flood victims. Mr Coates said the visit was disappointing, but the conference had ended with the utmost goodwill. He added that things were improving in New Zealand. This year a surplus was expected. With reasonable opportunity for exports the load of taxation would be lightened in New Zealand. He was glad of the proximity of Australia, because in times of stress many Australian exports were very necessary. ■
