A WORDY DUEL

YUGOSLAV ALLEGATIONS. ACTS OF HUNGARIAN OFFICIALS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Geneva, December 7. The Council debate on Yugoslavia s memorandum developed into a w ° r °Y duel between the delegates though M. Yevtitch, Yugoslav Foreign Minister, was somewhat more moderate than expected, confining himself to references to acts by Hungarian officials in connection with Yugoslav emigres, emphasizing that 20 acts of terrorism were carried out in Yugoslavia m recent years, the final culmination being the Marseilles tragedy. All were systematically organized in Hungary. M. Yevtitch concluded by demanding an international convention directed against the terrorists. M. Eckhardt, Hungary, replying, complained bitterly of the expulsion of Hungarians, emphasizing that many of those expelled were not Hungarians, but Germans and Yugoslavs. A wave of indignation had been aroused in Hungary which was most difficult to restrain. He asked the League to intervene in preference to reprisals which would endanger peace. He absolutely denied that Hungarians supplied the terrorists with arms and explosives and said it was absurd to saddle Hungary with Yugoslav crimes. M. Rushdiby supported the demand for an international measure to stamp out the terrorists. . , M. Benes and M. Titulescu similarly emphasized the necessity for the Council’s strong action in the interests of peace.
