GUNSHOT WOUNDS.

(Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, December 7. Dorothea Pickney, aged 44, single, a housekeeper, was admitted to hospital at Otaki as the result of gunshot wounds in the stomach. Her condition is very serious. BOY’S SERIOUS FALL. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, December 7. William Paul Rowan, aged 8£ years, of Sanson, in jumping off the running board of a car fell, striking his head on the ground. He is now in hospital unconscious with a haemorrhage of the brain. His condition is critical. KILLED WHEN HORSES BOLT. (Per United Press Association.) Timaru, December 7. Eric Kelly, aged 16, lost his life today on a farm a few miles from Timaru. He was engaged loading timber on to a trolley drawn by two horses which bolted. The youth tried to stop them and was crushed against a post. CANVASSER IN CRITICAL CONDITION. (Per United Press Association.) Timaru, December 7. John Fleming, insurance canvasser, was admitted to hospital in a critical condition suffering from the effects of poison. FARM WORKER’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, December 7. George Reid, single, aged 56, a farm labourer at Glendhu Station, Motunau, was killed this afternoon. He was loading sheep on a dray when the horses bolted. Reid jumped from the dray and fell on his head, suffering severe injuries. Dr. L. H. Marshall, of Cheviot, set out to take him in to Christchurch in bis motor car, but Reid was dead before reaching Kaiapoi.
