MINISTERIAL. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and Mrs Forbes will arrive in Invercargill at mid-day on Monday to attend the Royal Show. They will be the guests of Sir Robert and Lady Anderson at Victoria Park, and will leave by car on Wednesday on their way to Wellington to meet the-Duke of Gloucester on his arrival.

Mr A. W. Wellsted, business agent for the New Zealand Railways, returned to Dunedin en route to Wellington by the express yesterday afternoon.

The Rev. L. P. Bryan has received and accepted a unanimous call to the pastorate of the Ashburton Baptist Church and expects to take up his new duties early in the New Year. The death occurred at Nelson last Tuesday of Mr Dermod Kavanagh, a well-known and respected resident of the Nelson district. He leaves a widow, formerly Miss Peggy Forrester, of Invercargill.

Messrs J. R. Haigh and J. J. Crampton, of the Southland Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union, who have been visiting Dunedin in connection with Conciliation Council proceedings, returned by the express last evening. Mr D. S. Cameron, a well-known Otago cricket representative, who has been transferred from Dunedin to take charge of the Invercargill branch of the National Insurance Company, arrived in Invercargill by the afternoon express yesterday. The National Executive of the N.Z. Labour Party has endorsed the candidature of Mr C. L. Petrie, storekeeper of Otahuhu, as Labour candidate for Hauraki at the next general election. Mr Petrie opposed unsuccessfully the late Mr A. W. Hall in 1928 and the present member, Mr W. W. Massey at the by-election and general election in 1931.—Auckland Press Association message.
