SMALL STEAMERS

QUESTION OF WIRELESS, (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.45 p.m.) Canberra, December 6. The Minister of Commerce, Dr Earle Page, announced in the House of Representatives that the Government would compel small vessels not equipped with wireless to carry automatic devices which would be part of their life-saving' equipment, enabling them to send out messages in case of distress. About twenty small steamers would be affected.
