KENNINGTON NOTES

JUBILEE MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) At the weekly meeting of the Jubilee Committee presided over by Mr W. G. Moncur, it was decided to advertise the jubilee celebrations in the papers and then request the Broadcasting Board to put them over the air. The president will be the official speaker at the celebrations. Mr W. Henderson accepted the position of toast master and Mrs E. Galt as official accompaniste. The three pipers also agreed to pipe in the cake. Mr Hillis offered the use of his paddock for the picnic to be held on the afternoon of the third day. This offer was gratefully accepted. The marshals for the roll-call in decades will be Messrs W. Henderson, T. Lyall and A. Sutherland, the roll to be called by ex-teachers. At the meeting held in the school on Thursday afternoon to decide on the school children’s break-up for the holidays, Mrs A. Henderson was voted to the chair. It was decided to hold a fancy dress party the same night as the prize-giving. Miss McDonald, the infant mistress, will coach the children in small plays and fancy dances for the evening. It was agreed to give the children a sit-down supper. Donations of milk, cream, etc., were received at the meeting. 1.0.0. F. At the fortnightly meeting of the lodge Bro. Barker presided. Some further discussion arose concerning the 21st birthday celebrations to be held next lodge night. The resolutions passed at the last meeting were altered to the effect that only old lodge members be invited other than local members. It was hoped that at some future date to entertain the ladies’ lodge at a’ social evening. A social committee was appointed for the evening, a toastmaster and stewards. During the evening a ballot was taken and Bro. Baird was acknowledged- as a benefit member from an honorary one. He was accorded a welcome by those present.
