BLUFF NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) After an extended spell of beautiful summer weather, Bluff has shared in the general change. With a. fair amouiit of rain, which Will be of great benefit to local j gardens, has come a fall in temperature. This is particularly noticeable after the previous heat. Saturday next will be a busy day at the port in the matter of sport. It is hoped the sunshine will have returned by then, as in the early afternoon the official opening for the season of the Swimming Club will take place. A programme of races and other events has been arranged and if fine weather conditions prevail there should be a big crowd in attendance at the wharf. On Saturday evening the postponed first athletic meeting of the Bluff Sports Club will be held on the cricket ground. The latter is more centrally situated than Argyll Park, where the meetings were previously held, and the fixture should therefore be well patronized. The running track will be in good order after recent showers. Saturday will also be a big day for local people and visitors at Greenhills That day has been fixed on for the official opening of the new tennis and basketball courts. Among those expected to be present are Mr P. A. de la Perrelle, M.P., members of the. Education Board and prominent citizens of Invercargill and Bluff. Leading Greenhills residents will receive the visitors and the townsfolk as a whole are using every endeavour to make the function an enjoyable and successful one At night a free dance will be given in the schoolroom as a wind-up to the activities of the day.
