OTAHUTI NOTES
PERSONAL ITEMS. (From Our Correspondent.) Mrs Douglas Dawson is at present staying with friends in Dunedin. Mr R. Shields, sen., is holidaying with his son, Mr Robert Shields, this week. Mr and Mrs T. Kennard have taken up residence at Centre Bush where Mr Kennard has gone into business. Mr G. F. Burgess, of Edendale, is spending a few days with Mr and Mrs Kirker.
Mrs J. G. Grieve, of Queenstown, Miss J. M. Grieve, of Picton, and Mr J. Tait, of Wallacetown, are the guests of Mr and Mrs T. F. Grieve at present. Mrs J. G. Grieve and Miss J. M. Grieve leave for Queenstown later in the week to spend an extended holiday with Mr and Mrs Dickson Jardine, “Kawarau Falls Station.” Mr and Mrs Hector Johnstone have returned from their honeymoon which was spent in a trip to the Home country. The happy couple, on being interviewed, said they had visited a large portion of Scotland and England and though they enjoyed the tour immensely they were pleased to be back in Southland and the district. They travelled by the Panama Canal and called at Sydney for a few days on their return journey. The local dairy factory’s output is on a par with last year. Most of the farm work is reported to be well advanced. Some sheep farmers having made use of the fine weather last week have shorn most of their sheep, but this week’s rain was welcome to most farmers. The dredging of the Otahuti Stream is very much in advance, in fact Mr Guise hopes to be through the bridge and the Mains O’Blair road by the end of the week. Mr Coster, Ryal Bush, has been staying with Mr and Mrs James Adams for a few days.
