New Ideas Worth Testing
Inexpensive and dainty lingerie straps can be quickly made from old milanese undergarments. Cut in strips, and plait them tightly, then press, and attach to the garment. To prevent a seam made on the cross of material from sagging, machine it to a length of tape, which should be pressed open with the seam. Shrink the tape before use if the material is a washing one. To cut out a velvet garment accurately and easily, it is a good idea to pin the pattern on the wrong side of the material.
Instead of button-holing the edge of an applique, use small, close, herringbone stitches. When hemming lace or net curtains, try holding the hem in place with fine hairpins. Try putting an apple, cut into quarters, inside the next chicken you roast. It gives a delicious flavour and prevents the flesh from becoming dry.
