NEW SCALE IN WAGES. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, November 6. Three independent arbitrators, Lord Bridgeman, Sir David Shackleton and Mr Warner, appointed by the Labour Minister and the Secretary for Mines to adjudicate on the recent wages dispute in the South Wales coal trade, have issued their award. It gives an increase of 2’< per cent in the minimum percentage on the base rates up to 221 per cent, bringing the wages up to 8/4 a day. A flat rate of 7/8 is awarded, to day rate men, representing a daily increase of 2d to 8d according to the rate per day.
