POOR ORANGES
AUSTRALIAN IN LONDON. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.' (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) London, October 11. The deplorable quality of New South Wales oranges is understandable when the prices are compared with shipments from California, Brazil, South Africa and Spain, which are bringing regularly 17/- to 19/- a case. The present demand is excellent, but New South Wales shipments arc so bad that many are unsaleable, some bringing only sixpence a case. The Australian Press Association is informed that apart from some South Australian shipments early in the season, Australian oranges are consistently poor.
