RETURNED SOLDIERS
THE GORE ASSOCIATION.
The fortnightly meeting of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Tuesday evening. Mr L. Roberts (president) presiding. The hospital visiting sub-committee reported on its visits to the sick members during the past fortnight. Two ex-soldiers were visited at the public hospital each Sunday.—The committee was thanked for its report, and .Messrs Shelton and Roberts were appointed a new committee for the next term. The secretary reported that the financial membership now stood at 257, as compared with 246 last meeting night and 258 at the corresponding period last year. O. L. Ferens, secretary of the Mock House Provincial Committee, Dunedin, wrote stating that several boys will complete their training shortly and the committee would appreciate the cooperation of the Gore R.S.A. in obtaining positions for them. The writer further stated that these lads should do very well as the reports received so far have been good.—Left in the secretary’s hands. Mr T. Rusbridge reported on the recent reunion at Lawrence last Saturday. A party of five from Gore had attended. The function had been a very successful one with a total attendance of 140. Matters in connection with the forthcoming armistice reunion were discussed, and the various sub-committees appointed.
