WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
SOUTHLAND FEDERATION. At a meeting of the executive of the Southland Federation of Women’s Institutes Mrs E. G. Wilson presided over the following members: Mesdames C. H. Hargest, R. S. White, J. Craigie, A. S. Copland, F. Gutschlag, J. Copland and Miss K. Dun. Miss Kane, of the Dominion executive, wrote accepting an invitation to be present at the half-yearly council meeting to be held on Saturday, Octtober 13. A notice from Mrs Horn in connection with the forwarding of a report on the book “Food in Relation to the Country Home" was read and some of the members were appointed to draw up a brief report on various subjects to come before the council meeting on Saturday. A notice from Mrs Horn regarding 10/- levy per institute was held over until the half-yearly council meeting. Tire report and balance-sheet were approved. A resolution was passed empowering the sub-executive to deal with ordinary business. Before closing it was decided that in future the executive meetings be held at 12.45 p.m., this being a more convenient hour for the members.
