TAPANUI NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) At a special meeting of the Tapanui Racing Club three applications were received for the position of secretary to the club, Mr A. Munyard having resigned after many years’ service. As a result of the ballot Mr Thomas Edgar was elected secretary. Four new members were elected. At the annual social of the Waikoikoi Presbyterian Church the hall was well filled. The Rev. D. S. Mason presided. Items were given by Mr A. Potts, Mrs Mcßae, Mr McAulay, Mrs Kirk and Mrs Valentine. The accompanists were Miss R. Crawford (Tapanui) and Mrs J. Spittle (Koi). Mr M. J. McFadgen (Kelso), the speaker for the evening, gave an inspiring address on the Christian life. , Tire Heriot Women’s Institute held a concert and dance in the hall, which was crowded. A splendid programme was enoyed, the following contributing: Miss U. Sinclair (mandolin), Miss M. Paterson (piano) and Master H. Foote (violin), instrumental trio; Kelso Company (play); Miss G. Sim, Mr Churstain (character duo); Mr W. Watson (yodelling solo); Masters Herbert and W. Perriam (duet, with ballet and chorus); Mrs N. Hay (solo); Mrs Hunter (humorous recitations); male octet (popular choruses); Mr J. Churstain (solo); chorus, girls, Miss V. Black soloist; Mr Watson (humorous songs); Institute members (play). Mrs A. H. Sinclair (president) thanked all who had helped that evening, specially mentioning Mrs Perriam, who trained the ballet girls. The accompanists were. Misses Paterson and Sinclair and Mrs J. F. McLay. The West Otago team won the representative football match with South Kapuka at Lawrence by 11 points to 3.
