MEN’S HOCKEY
EASTERN NORTHERN SUBASSOCIATION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Eastern Northern Men’s Hockey SubAssociation was held at Riversdale on Monday evening, Mr W. Mortimer, jun., presiding over the following members: R. H. Matthews, A. C. Taylor, K. Kershaw, J. J. Hurley, P. Lawson and the secretary C. L. Barron. The Gore Club were granted permission to hold a seven-a-side tournament at Gore, August 22, being suggested as a suitable date. Messrs Kershaw and Taylor were instructed to purchase a shield to be held by the competition winners each season. It was decided that the present competition be closed at the end of the round and a knock-out competition be held. A protest was received from the Freshford Club in regard to the match played against Gore B on July 11. The reasons of the protest were set out as follows: (1) Short time being played; (2) on not being notified the time of starting the match. On receiving an explanation from the secretary of the Gore Club and the referee of the match the protest was dismissed, the secretary being instructed to write to the Freshford Club stating it was unfortunate, but partly their own fault. To-day’s Teams. The Gore B team to play Gore A at the Hostel to-day is as follows:—D. Macara: W. Macara, G. Gardyne; G. Davidson, Hom, Ferguson, L. Ferris. J. Ferris, Serong, Murdock. The Gore C team to play WaimumuH The Gore C team to play Waipounamu at Waipounamu to-day is as follows: F. Steans; Kershaw, Campbell; Papps, Anderson, Simpson; Drysdale, Hom, Barron, Davidson, McBride.
