TUATAPERE NOTES

RUGBY FOOTBALL. (From. Our Correspondent.) The Riverton junior team visited Tuatapere on Wednesday and were defeated by the Waiau representatives on the local Domain by 15 points to 6. The weather was ideal and the game was fast and open, with the Waiau backs showing good combination. Mr D. O’Leary controlled the game. Annual Ball. The Tuatapere branch of the Loyal Orange Lodge held their annual ball in the Presbyterian Hall on Friday. Although the crowd was not large it was a most successful function. The hall was nicely decorated with orange and blue streamers and the floor was in good dancing order. Music was supplied by the Green Valley Orchestra and extras were played by Miss Fraser. Two special prizes were won by Messrs J. Cochran and A. G. Fraser. The winners of the novelty dances were: Monte Carlo, Miss Fraser and Mr A. Fraser; Lucky Spot waltz: Miss A. Young and Mr S. Wells. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr J. McLean. Birthday Party. On Saturday afternoon Mrs Benneworth gave a delightful party in honour of the thirteenth birthday of her daughter Nancy. Competitions and games made the afternoon pass pleasantly until tea-time. The table was nicely decorated and in the centre was the birthday cake with thirteen candles. The competitions were won by Ella King, Nellie Scott and Ivy Simms, others present were Joan and Adeline Norman, Betty Sage, Kitty Baldwin, Mavis Coughlan, Olive Scott, Mavis Densley, Mabel and Essie Norman, Eileen Payne, Greta and Joyce Robson, Nessie Chamberlain*
