TASMAN FLIGHT

ULM STARTS TO-DAY IMPROVEMENT IN THE WEATHER PLANE READY (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, July 1. A definite decision to commence the return Tasman flight about 4.30 tomorrow morning was made by Mr C. T. P. Ulm to-night. At 8 o’clock tonight Mr Ulm received an official forecast of the weather, this being fairly favourable. The machine made a flight of 1 hour 40 minutes from Hobsonville to Ninety Mile Beach. Heavy weather was experienced throughout the trip. Owing to a strong wind the machine had to be anchored, a precaution not taken on previous occasions. A total of 740 gallons of benzine and 32 gallons of oil was put into the machine at 9 o’clock to-night. The weather was. improving and the wind was dying down with longer intervals between the showers. The Faith in Australia is taking air mail comprising about 10,000 letters, including 1000 registered letters.
