RUGBY FOOTBALL. (From Our Correspondent) Owing to the inability of the various clubs to field junior teams under the age of 19, the West Otago Rugby SubUnion decided at its last meeting to close the junior competition, Waikaka and Waikoikoi the leading teams to play off at some future date. In place of junior football a B grade competition ■was initiated, to commence on Saturday, June 16. Owing to receiving too snort notice of this intention, Waikaka were unable to field a team the first day and were compelled to default to Heriot. Last Saturday, however, the local club sent a team to Waikoikoi to try conclusions. Due mainly to sickness Waikaka were unable to field a full team. Although most of the Waikaka players were having their first game for the season they put up a very creditable performance and after a very even, hard fought game neither side had scored, the match ending in a draw. Although there was very little bright football both sides were very evenly matched, and the result was a good indication of the game which Mr Herbert ably controlled.
