GENERAL NOTES. The Tamatea sailed with passengers and general cargo on tier weekly run to Stewart Island yesterday at 10.25 a.m. She returned In the afternoon to Bluff, berthing at 5.15 p.m. The Shell- OU Company’s motor vessel Paua left Port Chalmers for Bluff yesterday afternoon. At this port she discharges case and bulk oil and sails on completion for Wellington. The Canterbury Shipping Company s coastal steamer Storm was expected to reach Bluff from Wellington last night. To-
day she works general cargo and sails for Dunedin. . , Loading operations were carried out on the Ruahine yesterday in excellent weather. It is expected that work will finish on her to-day, enabling her to sail for Gisborne and Auckland. The Union Company’s chartered steamer Narbada, which left Newcastle on June 9 for Calcutta via Java, failed by one inch to equal the draught record of 28ft lOin for the port. The record is already held by the Narbada, established on June 6, 1933, when the vessel left with 10,351 tons of coal and bunkers for Tandjong and Java. When the vessel left on June 9 she carried 10,288 tons —6991 tons of coal for Java and 3297 tons of bunkers—which brought the ship down to 28ft 9in., the second deepest vessel to leave the port. The British tanker Winamac is reported to have left San Francisco on June 11 with a cargo of motor spirit for the Vacuum Oil Company for discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on J,uly 3. The Winamac, a ship of 5765 tons gross, was built in 1913. and is owned by the Standard Transportation Company, being registered at Hong Kong. The Port Nicholson left Glasgow on June 21 in ballast for New Zealand ports. She Is proceeding via the Cape of Gbod Hope. The Union Company’s motor ship Hauraki, from Papeete, reached Vancouver on June 20. She is to leave Vancouver to-mor-row for New Westminster, Powell River, and Ocean Falls, to continue loading for New Zealand and Australia. The Union Co.’s Waipiata leaves Auckland on Friday evening for Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Bluff on Thursday, July 5, sailing again the following day for Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland via ports. The Waikouaiti sails from Lyttelton next Monday for Oamaru and Bluff, advise the local agents of the Union Company. She is due here next Wednesday, sailing again the same day for Sydney. The Karepo leaves Wellington on Saturday for Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Bluff next Tuesday, sailing again the same day for Greymouth. The Norwegian motor tanker Fanny Hoegh is bringing a cargo of motor spirit from the Black Sea region for the Associated Motorists’ Petrol Company, under the agency of Burns, Philp, and Co. The Fanny Hoegh will discharge at- Auckland and Wellington being due at Auckland towards the end of the month. She wiU probably call at Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. With regard to the Changte, to which a mishap occurred while on a voyage from Sydney to Hong Kong, the local agents Messrs Neill and Co., have receieved advice that the vessel will leave Hong Kong on July 1, and omitting Melbourne will leave Sydney again on her scheduled date JU Mes 2 sr’s H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the coaster Storm will arrive at Bluff this morning from Wellington. sailing again later in the day for Dunedin. ORARI DELAYED. Messrs J. G. Ward and Co. Ltd.. local agents for the Federal Line motor vessel Orari, advise that the liner will not now reach Bluff from Dunedin before the weekend. The Orari completes discharge and commences Homeward loading at Bluff. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
