JEWELLERY STOLEN
SMASH AND GRAB THIEVES. AFFRAY IN CROWDED STREET. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.50 am.) Sydney, June 15. An audacious robbery occurred tonight in densely crowded George street. Several men in an enclosed car stopped outside Angus and Coote’s large jewellery shop. One man threw a brick and shattered the window. He seized three trays of diamonds and rings valued at a considerable sum and rushed back to the car. He was about to get inside when a policeman appeared on the scene. The man pointed something resembling a revolver at him, leaped on to the running board and the car raced away and was lost in the traffic.
