BRITISH SHIPPING
QUESTION OF ASSISTANCE. STATEMENT TO BE MADE. (British Official Wireless.) Kugby, June 14. Dr E. Burgin, Parliamentary Secretary. to the Board of Trade, stated in the House of Commons that the President of the Board of Trade would make a statement well before the recess, that is, before the end of next month, with regard to the question of Government assistance for British shipping. Replying to a question whether an international conference of countries affected by the present depression in the shipping industry would be called to consider laying-up schemes or other proposals likely to mitigate the present position, Dr Burgin said these suggestions were among those receiving consideration by the Government.
