MISSING VICE-CONSUL

GRAVE DEVELOPMENTS THREATEN. (United Press Assn.— Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.15 p.m.) Kobe, June 12. The gravest developments threaten as a result of the disappearance of the Vice-Consul, Mr Kuramoto, whose wife says he was lately being shadowed. The Chinese Government is making every effort to clear up the mystery, and is offering a substantial reward. Japanese warships are rapidly assembling at Nanking.

A previous message stated: There is considerable apprehension over the mysterious disappearance of the Japanese Vice-Consul at Nanking, Mr Hideakira Kuramoto. Last Friday night Mr Kuramoto attended Nanking railway station to say goodbye to the Japanese Minister, Mr Ariyoshi, who was leaving for Shanghai, since when he has not been heard of. Three theories are advanced—suicide, murder and kidnapping.
