COOKS AND STEWARDS IGNORE CALL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 12. A call was made at 10 a.m. to-day for cooks and stewards to man the Makura sailing for San Francisco at 3 p.m., but though cooks and stewards attended (he call was unanswered. Seamen and firemen were not engaged in the meantime. The departure of the Makura for San Francisco has been further delayed owing to the refusal of the cooks and stewards to answer the call to man the ship. The Makura is now scheduled to leave on Thursday. A meeting of the Federation of the Cooks and Stewards’ Union, attended by about 400, was held this afternoon, but after three hours’ discussion no decision was reached, and the meeting was adjourned till to-morrow.
