LIKES A FIGHT

THE REV. J. K. ARCHER. ANSWER TO CHARGE OF COWARDICE. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 12. “The newspapers have charged us with being cowards. We are not cowards. When a fight is on I like to be in it,” declared the chairman, the Rev. J; K. Archer, at a meeting of the Tramways Board, when discussing the effect of the Appeal Board’s judgment. “It is just as well for the Appeal Board chairman to know that the Tramway Board is going to manage its own business and the staff. Members of the staff who are antagonistic to the Tramway Board are going to pay the price. We are going to play fair by our staff and are not going to be the puppets of the Appeal Board.”
