WEDDING STOPPED
DRAMATIC INTERRUPTION. A marriage ceremony was stopped at the Commercial Road Tadmud Torah Synagogue, in East London after a woman had cried, “You must not marry that man.” Rabbi Morgenstern was about to marry a couple, in the names of Jack Leveson and Annie Neimitz, when the interruption was made. The Rabbi pointed out that the registration forms were apparently in order. The woman persisted, however, and eventually the Rabbi’s secretary was asked to communicate with the Chief Rabbi, Dr Hertz. The synagogue was packed, and while attempts were made to get the Chief Rabbi, the prospective bridegroom and the bride remained together. The Rabbi later announced that the wedding would not take place. The bride broke down and sobbed and was taken away from the synagogue by the bridegroom.
