MOTOR CAR DRIVERS

PRODUCTION OF LICENSE. AN UNUSUAL POINT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 7. Whether the demand by an authorized person to a motor car driver to produce his driver’s license can be made at any time or whether he must be actually in the car at the time of the request was a question which Mr E. Page, S.M., was asked to decide in the Lower - Hutt Magistrate’s Court. Mr Page reserved his decision. The case was one in which a man was charged with failing to produce his license on request. The defendant said the request had been made by letters addressed to him and he contended he could not be asked for his license if he was not actually driving his car at the time of the request.
