MAY CUP MEETING. . Some keen racing was witnessed on Saturday when the Invercargill Whippet Club held its May Cup meeting on the club’s track. R. Aitken’s Bonette proved the winner of the cup and also gained second place in the hurdle handicap. Details were as follows:— NURSERY HANDICAP, 100 yards (for whippets 6 months and under). Messrs Maitland and Johnstone’s Tipperary Lass (scr.) 1 Pepperina (scr.) 2 JUVENILE HANDICAP, 200yds (for whippets nine months and under). 1 Mrs J. Tatham’s Madam Minoru (18yds) 1 Yarraville (20yds) 2 BAY CUP HANDICAP, 200yds (Open). First Heat. R. Aitken’s Bonette (14yds) 1 Fleet Pepper (12yds) 2 Second Heat. T. Hutchinson’s Gay Girl 1 Kitty Maru 2 , Final. Bonette 1 Kitty Maru 2 MINIATURE HANDICAP, 200yds (for whippets 191 b and under). T. Hutchinson’s Hava Queen (14yds) 1 Chevron (14yds) 2 OPEN HURDLE HANDICAP, 200yds. (Four starters). J. Winders’ Lady G (14|yds) 1 R. Aitken’s Bonette (20yds) 2 Time, 13 2-ssec. Won by half a length.
