Health In The Home

(By a family doctor.) Yesterday I saw a patient who had had the ’flu some weeks back. Although he had not been very ill and had returned to work after a few days he had felt utterly depressed, down in the dumps and unable to apply his energies to anything. After ten days of hopelessly trying to overcome his depression—which is one of the characteristic results of ’flu—he took my advice and went away to the sea for a week. “It made absolutely all the difference,” he told me. “I gave up all thought of work and just applied my mind to eating and sleeping and within a couple of days I was already feeling braced up, going for longish walks and enjoying all the sights and amusements. Now I am back, I am as fit as ever.”

I am sure this is a most important point in the convalescence of ’flu. If as a result of even a mild attack you feel at all depressed, you will save time and money in the long run by taking a few days holiday away at the sea.
